About
Join us on King Harold Day for a fascinating three-hour guided foraging walk around Waltham Abbey. Beginning at Waltham Abbey Church, you'll explore local plants and discover how they were used in Anglo-Saxon medicine and daily life.
Led by an expert forager Fred Gillam, whose courses have been featured in BBC Countryfile Magazine's Top 10 UK Foraging Courses and recommended in The Sunday Telegraph's Top 5 Foraging Experiences, this gentle walk will help you identify seasonal edible and medicinal plants while uncovering the rich natural heritage that would have been familiar to King Harold and his contemporaries.
9am-12pm
Start at Waltham Abbey Church West entrance, just off the car park on Highbridge Steet (what3words: budget.jokes.signal)
