This is a beginners course which we would recommend for people getting started in woodwork or needing a refresher. If you’re completely new to woodwork, you might want to start with the Introduction to Hand Tools, but this course doesn’t assume any prior knowledge.

The course will provide you with an introduction to the key power tools vital for any woodworker to learn their craft. You’ll learn the correct tools to use across a range of woodworking tasks: the use of a biscuit joiner to join two components edge to edge, the correct type of cutter to use with a router, how to achieve better accuracy with a router table, and how to make curved cuts using a jigsaw.

You will learn how and when to use different tools and practice using them to make a stylish pizza server in contrasting woods. The course is accompanied by a technical handout that provides a reference for the tools and techniques that you’ve covered.
